What I can't stress enough is that this stuff matters. There is, I think, a tendency to dismiss this kind of analysis as just some pencil-necked nonsense. But people pick up on the implications of the language you use, and if the army keeps telling soldiers...
...that they are 'warriors,' and thus a unique class apart, it is going to erode - indeed, it is *already eroding* - the ethos of citizen-soldier service that a free country depends on to defend itself.
That's not the kind of thing you even need to consciously notice to have affect you—especially if it's a constant background element. No propaganda piece will ever be as effective as everyone implicitly assuming something is true.
