I feel like the thread overstates the problem somewhat. It's definitely an issue worth considering.
What bothers me is the trendline. Signs of a problem have gotten worse and more frequent since 2001. So it's not bad *yet* but it is becoming bad & cultural elements pushing in that direction. Thus, the time for a course correction is now, because institutions turn slow.
