One of the things I fantasize about sometimes is automatic translation software becoming so intelligent that we have a reverse Tower of Babel moment with primary and academic sources in other languages.

Given that translation software these days still can't handle even very simple ancient Latin or Greek, I think that dream is far off.

True! Unless, I suppose, you are Moses Finley with his complaints about the "great curse of archaeology, the indestructibility of pots," but then he was not German and so has a different view on the matter.
