The Wars of the Diadochi are endlessly fascinating to me but aren't talked about too much (especially compared to Alexander the Great and the later rise of Rome).
True. It's hard to find space for them in big survey courses both because they are so complex - so once you go below the level of 'Alexander's companions then fought over it, these three families came out with the most' you are looking at multiple lectures.

But without that granularity, it becomes "Alexander dies, his companions fight, resulting in this apple-cart which exists to be overturned by the Romans." And I think that survey-course treatment bleeds into low public interest in wars they don't really know happened.

I've always wanted to actually teach the Hellenistic period from an east-med. focus (thinking the course title would be "The World After Alexander"), but alas, adjuncts don't pick their courses, so it's more surveys without enough detail to really do the Hellenistic justice.
