Yeah, I'm not as full on the McClellan bash-wagon as some, especially when there are much worse ACW generals, like Bragg or Pope or Burnside or Hood.
I think the McClellan bashing might be a combination of his failure (which, Monday morning quarterbacking, fair cop) with how absolutely insufferable he comes across in his personal correspondence. People can get away with mediocrity OR with egomania.
