You know, there is a lot of twitter bagging on bad (mostly ACW?) generals, like @janecoaston about McClellen or @DrRobThompson about <insert confederate general here>.
But I feel like there is not *nearly* enough bagging on Luigi Cadorna, Italian chief of staff (1914-17).

I think with the Russian and Austrian cases, I can say, "Well, there were so many problems that you can't really hold them fully responsible for their context." But Cadorna was influential enough to create a new context. Pasha... I don't know enough about.

I tend to look at Ottoman WWI experience through the lens of the Dardanelles and the rise of Kemal, which flattens a lot of context and characters.

Though there is stiff competition, I think Cadorna would be my pick for the most incompetent general of WWI
