Question: I've heard "if you work hard, you will get to where you want to be," but is there anything you'd add? I'm thinking academic-wise. Thanks in advance!

Hm. Hard work is necessary but not sufficient. You also need lots of persistence (because you *will* face setbacks) and then a giant heap of luck because the process (esp. hiring) can be so random. I am still working on that last one.
