If wealthy Americans thought it was the right thing to do to 'adopt' and fund community colleges and 2nd- or 3rd-tier state schools, rather than plow more money into their almae matres, the quality of higher education in this country could be substantially increased.
I know the feeling. I got INTO a rich school but the entire time I was there they made it clear I was an unwelcome commoner and not considered a legitimate part of the school.
