The fact that Biden isn't signing the relief bill until tomorrow is just the latest in a series of signs our leaders fundamentally Do Not Get It, even on a completely cynical, performative level.

This is a long-overdue response to a rolling state of emergency. The message from Democrats every single day since Biden's inauguration needed to be "we simply will not rest, at all, any of us, until this bill is passed."

The idea that there were any recesses is so facially absurd it should be grounds for removal from office. They should have been working twenty hour days. Biden should have signaled that he was literally waiting to sign the bill the very instant he got the call that it had passed.

Again, even on a purely cynical level this is clearly the thing. If the bill has imperfections - and it does - it's much easier to wave them away if you rushed it out the door! Watching these guys take seven weeks to deliver the day-one bill they promised is Jokerifying.
