This needs to be made illegal immediately. I don't know how else to talk about it, it's staggeringly bad and needs to be purged, even at the total cost of every cent invested in it

I am in the habit of defending things with negative externalities that nevertheless deliver some sort of core good. Fossil fuels weren't a mistake (but we need to move past them). But crypto-currencies have...absolutely none of them.

I'm not an economist so I don't know if they still count as "externalities" if they're literally all you have, but that sure seems to be the case here

I saw a quip a while back that all crypto was was a 'money laundering index' and that seems about right.
