Is there anything to read on Europa Universalis IV? I hadn't heard of it until recently, but a sizeable number of students end up in my modern Europe survey course because of this game, and I'm keen to understand its worldview.

Thank you, this answers a lot of my questions. The ambient neo-realism accords with my classroom experience. Interestingly it does seem the mid-15th century start date helps counter excessive Eurocentrism, at least compared to conventional late 18th-c. 'modern' history frames.
