Silver lining to cryptocurrencies being maybe the worst environmental idea human beings have ever had: I'm far too stupid to trade any of them and can now refashion this as a principled stance
Perhaps I lack vision, but I've always failed to see the stable end-use for bitcoins. To become a truly useful currency, their value would need to stabilize, which would make them useless as a tech-bro investment vehicle.

On the flipside, to be a useful investment vehicle, they need a locked in upward growth trajectory (like gold, or silver) which generally only obtains with some real-world use that puts pressure on supply resulting in upward motion.

But then you end up back at 'what is a crypto-currency for' - there are lots of people who will tell you it is all in evading government taxes and well...let me tell you a story about states and their monopoly on the legitimate use of this thing called 'violence'
