So I have opinions (tm) on the whole 'Classics Discourse' (also tm), but they're not well-formed enough yet to be worth writing down.

I will say that I think that sometimes the 'reform' side's rhetoric (and even some of the specific recommendations) get a bit more over-heated than the concrete set of objectives and reforms they lay out (and to be fair, the essay notes this rhetoric/reform mismatch).
But if you are classics-adjacent or a lay-classicist wondering what is up with all of this yelling that crosses your twitter timeline every so often, I think the essay does a great job of explaining the dispute and presenting the steel-man version of the reform position.
