Those of you who went through a yellow light, then kissed your fingers and touched them to the roof: why did you do this? And is this action an acknowledgment of transition through liminal space??

Good luck! The finger kiss onto the roof also blocks the signal from nearby speedtrap cameras. It's science.
I have never heard of this but as an apotropaic ritual making a sort of 'holy sign' after doing something risky and potentially inviting the (divine?) wrath of the police is kind of amazing.

I might have to use this in my lectures when I need a reference for apotropaic gestures. I've tended to use the Italian apotropaic corna gesture, but obviously that is no more familiar.
