It never ceases to amuse me how much overlap there is between the skills I use to teach and the skills I use to DM.

Interesting, I've always found TA session (math) prep way harder. I guess the problem is trying to DM a party containing munchins, min-maxers, and noobs simultaneously, something I would *never* want in a D&D party.

To be fair, I tent to make most of my own maps (via Campaign Cartographer) and I like to have visuals for NPCs and enemies (for which I use Heroforge's screenshot/photobooth functionality). And I've never DM'd using premade modules, so I have to set everything up.

But in terms of the teaching/DMing overlap, mostly I mean in terms of managing attention, encouraging interaction and discussion, and trying to keep the pace and interest good. Also sometimes just straight up explaining things in understandable ways.
