When I was taking paleography, one of the pages we had to read had 'minimum' in Beneventan script. Looking at that word, I about lost it.

I love the hell out of Caroline miniscule, myself. Simple, relatively unadorned, practical and elegant, but with those long strokes above and below the line which just look cool. But Beneventan can go straight to hell and sit there next to Old Roman Cursive.
