I think the only one I need to fill out my 'bad history takes' Bingo card is someone going on about how 'history repeats itself'

History doesn't repeat itself, Bret, but it does rhyme. I thought this was known.

What drives me nuts about all of those takes is that Thucydides' take on this was already more sensible and sophisticated, rooted in human nature. And no one ever quotes that!
