Whoever bought the stock without doing the research is a speculator and deserve to lose money.

OK, one value it might have is gambling excitement.

Sure, but only a fool plays dollar poker with the rent money. If you are going to literally 'play' the market as a game, keep that account small, both in absolute terms, but also as a percentage of the portfolio. And then repeat the Devereaux family motto.
