I wouldn't blame the school. Seems like society as a whole is the more obvious target - you can't get this many cases without a large student body getting a bunch of them. (Especially since they're both adults and nearly immune to it, so they'll neither be controlled nor fear it)
It is probably not a great sign about how our universities are handling COVID that I now pretty much have a standard response email for when a student contacts me reporting they've tested positive or have COVID symptoms, huh?
