This week on the blog, fireside where we discuss some of the ways that historians evaluate evidence and sources for viewpoint and reliability: https://acoup.blog/2021/01/22/fireside-friday-january-22-2021/ … (Also, I have added a 'book recommendation list' page, so all of my fireside recommendations are in one place.)

You mention planning a "doctrine" series primarily using Naval media, as well as a "correcting misconceptions" series around Wonder Woman trench scene. Why not discuss WW1 doctrine (and its evolution?)

WW1 doctrine may or may not fit in the post length structure. From policy to strategy to tactics, if the decision makers of 1914 could have had a doctrine informed by the outcome of the war, so much could have been avoided.

WWI doctrine and its evolution is a fascinating topic for sure, but I was going to use naval material because doctrine in the naval context just tends to be a lot more obvious and easier to tease out more clearly.

That said, I'm thinking doctrine post before WWI post, since having a good understanding of doctrine will make the misconceptions about trench warfare clearer.
