I’d say it’s medium not good. The military in a generic sense has an authoritarian bent. In this instance you had that intersected with a more or less explicit identity movement.

The reason I upgrade it to very not good is that it suggests the continued drift of 'military culture' away from civilian culture. That is one of the classic dangers of professional armies, so seeing evidence of it is concerning because of where that trend leads.
