So, question for politics-knowers...does Amy Klobuchar have some position (beyond being a Senator) whereby she gets to be, like, everywhere? Or is her role in the inauguration and congressional counting electoral votes just part of her reward for dropping out at the right time?

She's chair of the senate Dem steering committee, so fairly high up in party rankings honestly if she got any bribe for dropping out in 2019 it was overpaid; she never had a chance

Buttigieg getting Transport would be blatant influence peddling, but at least he had a usable number of primary delegates

Not really a politics-knowing, but I do pontificate on just about anything. She doesn't have any particular position with the fed gov. She is on the joint inauguration committee, I'm not sure if that's related to her being the ranking member of the senate rules committee

scratch that - it totally is related to her being the ranking member of the senate rules committee. As that oversees the join inauguration committee.

She was the lead Senate Democrat on the congressional planning committee for the inauguration, and someone on 538 pointed out because they can't afford to lose any senators she's not getting any new job in the administration so this is probably something of an apology for that.

My impression from having lived in Minneapolis while she was the Hennepin County Attorney (and a neighbor) is that if you get on her bad side, she’ll remember the slight forever, so she gets invited to things, because it’s significantly easier than having her mad at you.

Having seen her speak in person in 2019, I was left with an identical impression.
