Assuming that those there for violence were few compared to the number of belligerently vocal, I wonder what it would have taken to make the latter willing accomplices for the former. One big hostage and I imagine thousands who didn't plan to murder would start chanting for it.

I was so enraged at the police, the day of, because I was watching a livefeed from outside, where people were just calmly milling around. I didn't realize, at the time, it was because the police were all inside, fighting for their lives, and others, and democracy.
