Interesting question. We see 7 TIEs at Yavin destroyed, but rebel fighter losses are way heavier (until you count the thousands of TIEs blown up in their hangers because Tarkin is a doofus) Endor seems to favor the rebels more in the casualty ratio.

Probably was a bad plan for the Empire to hold back their entire capital strike force while exposing their fighters - which in doctrine, act as a vital shielding force for the capitals which have less point-defense - to heavier rebel point-defense.

You suddenly get the bafflement of the officer on the Executor's bridge when he says, "We're not going to attack!?"

Yavin is exceptional.

I mean, yeah, but we have a total of three film battles between rebel and imperial fighters - Scarif, Yavin and Endor. At Scarif and Yavin, the rebels take really heavy losses achieving objectives.
