Yeah, I have something more generally about so-called 'warrior culture' (which I tend to refer to as the 'Cult of the Badass') coming up soon, motivated by Steven Pressfield's video-series on the 'warrior archetype' which is just...it's very bad.
That sort of 'warrior culture' nonsense leads to very dark places. It is essentially a thinly painted over form of the fascist-hero and the 'cult of action' laid out by Umberto Eco in his famous essay, 'Ur Fascism.' And, you know, fascism is bad!

Yes, indeed. It certainly makes me think about the militaristic element in Imperial era cults like that of Mithras. The cult was men-only and drew heavily on veterans, disallowing slave (and probably freedmen) members, who were dominating other mystery cults of the era.
