You know, you mentioned in that post that everything was easily accessable because you could get them all in a library and that's definitely true. But i'd love to see how far you go with just wikipedia citation as thats what most people i know would define as easy to access.
Pretty far, actually. You would miss most of the technical warfare details, but you could get nearly all of the cultural details just with the wikipedia articles alone.
I also want to point out that for discussing cultures that exist in the same country as an author, that the telephone existed too in 1996. You could just call a federally recognized tribal government and ask if they could point you to resources.
