So it's a tricky line, the line between two you reincorporate and who you prosecute. But the key is that it isn't 'all good' - reincorporation meant at least pretending not to have been with the oligarchy, which mean repudiating the oligarchy.

Contrast with the collapse of Reconstruction - when former Confederates were allowed to claim to have been 'good Americans' while also being Confederates - is striking. There must be no 'good Confederates.' If you are a good American, it is because you hate the insurrection.

Yep. That was a huge mistake. Also, slave owners shouldn't have been compensated for the loss of their slaves. Should have been made to repay stolen wages, at least
