Man, hats off to professional YouTubers. What they do takes so much work. I'm trying to get my class-interfacing channel set up for the semester, and my goodness there's a lot to learn.

Fair enough. You know how it is on the job market - there's always that voice your head asking "have you done enough?" and no real way to silence it, even though we all know that the job market rarely rewards work so much as dumb luck or nepotism.

Lots of 'would I have more of an audience if I did a podcast? a video series?' and then that evil voice in your head asking you 'and maybe then you'd be notable enough to get that job?' Which, of course, no, because no job committee ever rewarded public engagement.

As someone who definitely rode at least one of his wife's coattails into his current position, I totally get it. So many people who deserve to have a TT position and just won't get one. Makes me angry and sad.
