Strongly agree. I always figure that if I’m discussing something with a person who strongly disagrees with me, then the odds of us persuading each other are low, but there’s a much better chance I can influence everyone else reading the exchange.

How effective you deem yelling to be probably depends a lot on your baseline level of niceness. I know of people (on this very birdsite!) who self-report as assholish, and who earnestly wonder at how effective it is to simply be nice.

But if you're nice all the time, to everyone, to a fault, you will spend a lot of time stewing while people neglect your interests, or outright take advantage of you.
