Evangelion is obviously the most dominant Opening Credits show in history. Controversially Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo are both end credits for me. Further submissions welcome

Ghost in the Shell S.A.C. is an opening credits show for sure ('Inner Universe' and 'Rise'), but the best track is actually Cyberbird, played during the S2 climax. Wolf's Rain is a closing theme song with 'Gravity.'

Eureka Seven has, like, four? five? sets of opening and closing themes (and honestly, the music of the show is somewhat better than the show deserved), but is consistently an opening-theme-show.

Not sure how to class Witch Hunter Robin. Opening theme is higher energy, but the slower closing theme often fits with a show that often wants you to still be processing reveals and character beats as the credits roll. But on the balance, opening theme show, I think.

Thinking about it, in a way that's often the contrast here isn't it? Does the show want to build up energy to drive you forward more, or is the key emotional resonance coming as the episode and its meaning sits with you a bit? (Bebop's "Blue" begins playing in background...)
