You laugh now but there's at least a 30% chance some reactionary "education nonprofit" is gonna get this on your kid's high school curriculum. Sponsor a national essay prize, the workshttps://twitter.com/kthorjensen/status/1336058522363052032 …

Obligatory "don't read Ayn Rand, read the Fatal Conceit and the Road to Serfdom instead" statement, just because, you know, even when you disagree, engage with arguments in their strongest form. But also - havens I hope no one assigns Ayn Rand in schools?
Whoa, have you really not encountered this? I was not being facetious, there's like a foundation that supplies high schools with free copies of her books and sponsors a prestigious national essay contest with the result that, yeah, lots of schools actually assign Ayn Rand
At my (public) high school I was made to read Anthem as a mandatory class assignment and offered extra credit to read Atlas Shrugged and enter the essay contest. I didn't take my teacher up on this; several classmates did!
I don’t know of anywhere that Ayn Rand is assigned, but there is an essay contest with reading groups for students that teachers encourage you to participate in cause you can get scholarship money. I know a few people who did it
Yeah the essay contest is a genuinely big deal, we were offered extra credit for it in addition to the scholarship opportunity
