I've been on the side of the teaching staff during my phd days, but this year being a student again gives me a completely different view on anti-cheating measures. The whole "taking a test online"-security stuff is creepy and invasive. For students who don't cheat is horrible.

I don't do any of that. Instead, I pivoted my tests away from the sorts of recall-based questions where I'd be worried about that sort of thing, to analytical essays. Still ended up catching responses which were copy-pasted from the internet. Not many, but still
