I wish someone had told me that as I get older I just rereading the same books repeatedly. They're like old friends, and it's now hard to make new friends.
so, odd guilty pleasure, but I find I reread my battered old copy of J.L. Stokesbury's "A Short History of World War I" just about every year. I doubt it is anything like the best treatment of the subject, but I kind of adore the curmudgeonly old-fashioned style of it.

D'Aulaires has such a childhood appeal. I know it skips a lot of cultural context/old story elements/switches into modern understandings but those illustrations still speak to me.
