Struggling this morning. I've got a handful of students who haven't done 90% of the course trying hail mary passes, and I sympathize, but like, why didn't they reach out earlier or respond to my attempts to bring them back to the class? Sucks.

Had one of those this semester - always a huge bummer. I try to be as accommodating as I can, but students have to meet me halfway - if you didn't do the learning, well then I can't do the good-grading. That's how it goes!

Yeah. I'm trying to let myself off the hook a bit, but I put so much effort into building supports and opportunities for students to succeed. And I have so many failing grades. So many.

Do let yourself off of the hook, more than a bit! You are a great teacher - but it takes both a teacher and a student to do learning. Still, I know it sucks. My class average stayed the same as usual this semester, but it was much more bifurcated, with more disaster-grades.
