Struggling this morning. I've got a handful of students who haven't done 90% of the course trying hail mary passes, and I sympathize, but like, why didn't they reach out earlier or respond to my attempts to bring them back to the class? Sucks.

Yeah. I'm trying to let myself off the hook a bit, but I put so much effort into building supports and opportunities for students to succeed. And I have so many failing grades. So many.
Do let yourself off of the hook, more than a bit! You are a great teacher - but it takes both a teacher and a student to do learning. Still, I know it sucks. My class average stayed the same as usual this semester, but it was much more bifurcated, with more disaster-grades.

Thanks, Bret. Means a lot, truly. I've got a feeling I'm going to be having a conversation about disaster grades with my dean at the beginning of next semester. Because wow.

What I'm worried about is the spring semester. I felt my students burning out on the online learning towards the end of this semester and I'm worried, since I'm still all online in the spring, if they're going to still be burned. But we only do what we can, I guess!
