Yes to leather shoes and satchels. The question here was never about leather accessories, but about depictions involving leather tunics, shirts, pants, bracers and so on and the main point if you note the original tweet, was the overuse of such in modern depictions.

Yes I understand that, I was more reacting to the idea that butchering animals to use their skin is "quintessentially barbarian" when the Romans were clearly ok with the practice even if it was for just for shoes.

Not to mention the loads of other cultures that have worn the skin and fur of butchered animals across many periods of history without the practice being associated with "barbarians".
