So many of my Q&A sessions include someone who says, "I just don't think so," based entirely on their "gut feelings" about disability. As if the reason they've never heard of it is because it didn't exist, not because no one bothered to consider it before.
The more I think about this the more baffling it becomes. There are some really prominent figures with injuries or other disabilities. I mean, Philip II's weak leg? Antigonus the One-Eyed? Claudius!? Even just thinking about it here, there's a lot of evidence!

TONS of evidence! But no, all exceptions, we all know disabled people couldn't have been valuable to anyone for any reason in the past, mostly because Aristotle.

When you bring up examples like yours, responses include, "Claudius was in the imperial family, different rules," and "Having one eye/a lame leg isn't the same as being DISABLED disabled." As if we all implicitly know which disabilities we mean when we say PWD weren't valued.
