Writing a balanced 'some good, some bad' critique is always difficult because when I get to the bad and actually begin writing, I find that I get a lot more frustrated with the problems because I have distilled them out. In other news, AC:Valhalla thoughts this week on the blog.

isn't that just the constraint of the genre? wanton slaughter we're mostly okay with, but rape and slavery are straight off the table, especially for the protagonist's faction

Except you can't do the wanton slaughter either! Killing civilians desyncs you. They comprehensively white-washed the Great Heathen Army and in the process unintentionally created a love letter to manifest destiny. It is very frustrating.
