So, the 1944 configuration of Yamato had AA-quad turrets on top of the back of two of the three main battery turrets. So the guns-on-guns look has historical precedent. Then again, Yamato's AA - like most IJN AA - was abysmal, so ymmv!
At some point in childhood most all of us learn that at some point sticking more bits on something doesn't make it any better and might well make it worse. See, I think the chaos marine is actually way more visually interesting! More colors and a lot of the greebles and bits have clear purposes and designs. There's some artwork there too that expresses the core ideas of the character. Must better design!
