The presentation however, is very good. I very much hope that there will be a recording made available - I'd love to share it with my readers. Prof. William Murray - the presenter - is giving a really excellent primer on Roman naval warfare, in addition to the findings.

@RPMNautical does, they are engaged in the underwater excavation of the battlesite of the naval Battle of the Aegates Islands (241 BC), the decisive final engagement of the First Punic War between Rome and Carthage.Näytä tämä ketju -
Their excellent work off of the Egadi (=Aegates) islands have uncovered now 23 warship rams, along with a wealth of other artifacts. I am not exaggerating when I say that this is absolutely one of the most important Roman/Carthaginian archaeological projects currently underway.

Oh and attention to precise helmet weights in some of their experiments to determine currents. Be still my heart! (and yes, they get the helmet weights absolutely right, correctly using the heavier mid-third century Montefortino types, rather than the lighter subsequent types).
