So it's now one crazy week on from my blog post explaining my position on this endless election (https://acoup.blog/2020/10/30/fireside-friday-october-30-2020/ …). Since then, my twitter has been a lot more focused on domestic politics. I know that is probably frustrating to folks here for the history.. 1/10

...don't worry! With luck, this channel will be back to mostly ancient history, milhist and nat-sec from here. While I felt that it was important to pay attention to this important election, I also think that it is a negative thing if politics swallows every corner of life. 2/10

And obviously the law of averages means that many of my twitter followers and blog readers likely disagree with my views anyway, either to the right or the left. Which is just fine, of course. But I figured airing political views might upset people... 3/10

...so, like any experimental archaeologist would, I figured that if I was doing something foolish and probably self-destructive, I should at least gather data...in this case to see if I hemorrhaged followers on account of having an opinion... 4/10

A week in, at the end of the experiment, I am +56 twitter followers, +12 blog subscribers, and +16 patrons. So apparently, no! Fun unexpected data! I did get a fair bit of feedback on the post itself, almost all quite friendly, even if several were in polite disagreement. 5/10

And the blog got its very first blocked commenter, from someone who seemed terribly upset about this tank joke: https://twitter.com/BretDevereaux/status/1324118041379176463 … which is fine, I can take disagreement in comments - but then went on to start trolling other commenters, which is not fine - thus block. 7/10
