You've always been very forthright on your blog that your specialty is the history of "the greater Mediterranean world during the Hellenistic and Roman periods". What other historical subfields would you want to include in such a panel to adivse the POTUS?
Well, everything, obviously. But for a basic panel, I think a specialist on the modern American military and some of its failures would be valuable. I'd want someone with expertise in China too, along with colonial/-post colonial Africa.

Likewise, I'd think someone who could speak to the way that central and south America's history, especially during the cold war, is going to condition their reaction to US foreign policy initiatives would be very valuable.

But mostly, the value proposition of a historian is not that we know lots of facts, but that we can research. A historian advising the president would most often be about finding the specialists whose expertise could provide the necessary context of any given issue.
