A fantasyland power move: offer Mitch a cabinet position he can't turn down; prevent him from doing anything in it; wait until his Senate replacement is sworn in; and then fire him.
Unfortunately, Mitch has been exceedingly clear that there is no other job in the whole universe - including the presidency itself - that he wants more than to be Senate majority leader.
