Yeah, I remember a frustrating afternoon as a TA trying to figure out which Hugh and which William were in the Rosenwein reading (which does not supply numbers to them) for my discussion section notes.

Fun fact: the two younger sons of that Count William, both of whom succeeded their brothers as duke of Aquitaine, had different birth names but changed them to William upon inheriting their paternal titles
