I'm also not super thrilled by the description of Rome sitting on the edge of Etruria while entirely leaving out, you know, Latium. I assume there's a desire to really bolt Rome on to a previous section on the Etruscans, but you know, Latin cultural influence was big in Rome too
Finally, 'Rome obliged some Etruscan towns to become clients' is a terribly bloodless way of saying 'Rome extended its growing violent military hegemony into Etruria.
I mean, it is simply lifted from the Diodorus/Ineditum Vatican topos "from the Etruscans we learned to fight with xalxaspides and in phalanxes." But, that is both uncritical and outdated.
So, my autocorrect changed Vaticanum, and I don't like that... can I set my phone to Latin???
