Also, I very much wish the person in Bentley’s seminar who took Parker’s MilRevs books wasn’t cookoo for Cocoa Puffs and actually did that book justice instead of writing a 10+ page review that came with a ppt slide deck. It was all nonsense, too.

Yeah, it's also worth noting that Parker's pure technology-interaction thesis has been revised pretty heavily subsequently. The big reason I don't think the milhist side can be neglected is that in the end, the 'west' defines the world-system at bayonet point.

I tend to see this as an area where the isolation of milhist proper (in its modern, war-and-society form, not the old drums&trumpets) from much of the rest of the field is a real disadvantage given how significantly conflict shapes almost everything else.
