Here's why I don't like it: It doesn't take scale into account. Our presence in SY, IQ, and AF, among other places, has fluctuated in the past decade but remains relatively small compared to the massive presence in Iraq in the 00s and AF in the late 00s and early 10s.
Would you say that you are prepared to fight a forever war against the term "forever wars"?

Plus: if the GWOT had been framed as international law enforcement, with mostly covert military ops as one tool in that kit, the public would have been prepared to treat terrorism like crime; something you have to manage more or less indefinitely/
