Previous tweet, I realize, is not clear: your critique is absolutely valid directed at Pinker. Gat presents a more limited and stronger form of the argument which does consider these things and still holds.
But everyone reads Pinker and not Gat because 
My impression is that all of those things are included in the more sophisticated version of the 'declining violence' argument (but ignore Pinker; Gat, "War in Human Civilization" is superior as a form of this argument).

That's because Pinker says "it was the Enlightenment" and Gat says "it was essentially industrial modernity and the expansion of the pie." And I say it's Gat plus nuclear weapons.

I really hope that with "pie" you're referring to the baked pastry dish, but I'm guessing that's not the case haha
