Probably a lot of typos in there too, but I needs must be grading.

Interesting piece, though you're wrong on the ecological impact, which was often... paradoxical. Interesting. Those arguments have no filtered through to discussions of ancient iron-working. I suspect a key part of the difference is that we have explicit and reliably testimony for deforestation due to fuel-use on Elba and in Italy.
