Alternately, with CGI, you could absolutely make a single-season comedy series just adapting the Metamorphoses of Apuleius.
I think the best way to do it is where you have like, a cast of maybe a dozen comedians who just keep getting reused in different roles as the story moves on. So the bandit leader is the same guy as the centurion later on, etc.
